Who We Are

Philip’s Bookshop was started in 1989 by husband and wife Philip and Catherine O’Flynn in Chapel Lane, Mallow selling general books and cards. They moved to 34 Bank Place in 1991. This move to a bigger two story premises on the main street was a turning point for the business. At this stage the shop started selling school books and stationery and was the only book shop in the area for many years. In 2008 their daughter June started to work in the business and this coincided with an opportunity to move to a lager premises with bigger square footage and no steps at 36 Bank place. They also added school uniforms to their range of products. In order to avoid excessive seasonality of sales they have diversified the business and introduced new lines in office stationery, gift stationery, puppets, games and O Conaill's Chocolate.
In Feburary 2015 they became a Ticketmaster outlet.
They launched a new "Love from Cork" area in October 2015 which has art and craft produced by over 20 artists and craft people from Cork.
Philip’s Bookshop is located between the Post Office and Jenny’s Bakery opposite the Church on the Main Street.
Philip’s Bookshop takes customer services seriously and whether it is a special order for a general book or helping you get everything you need for going to school they pride themselves in being there with extremely knowledgeable staff.
